Itbed Cardboard Bed

1

Whether you’re crashing at a friend’s place or having your place crashed, this It Design Itbed may change the way the near-homeless take up space. The bed is pretty manageable, especially if you are only carrying it between room and car. If you’re pulling it out of the closet every time you have company from out of town, this makeshift bed is even more convenient. The base of the bed consists of .275-thick cardboard that expands and collapses like an accordion. The cardboard disperses weight evenly, making it stable enough to hold the weight of an adult sleeper, and the top layer offers slight cushioning—definitely more comfortable than the floor. A specially-fitted Itbed mattress, in two sizes, can also be purchased for use with the cardboard frame. As if it needed mentioning, this item is produced in Europe—Switzerland, to be exact—and pricing (in Euros) can be found here. There's also a list of European retailers, as well as contact information for purchasing and oversees shipment. |Via destination design |
