Technology - August 23 2005The Vein to Your Door0 Tired of digging around for your keys every time you want to get into your building? Move to Japan, where Palm Vein Authentication Technology is being put to use at the entrance to the Clio Shonan-Chigasaki condominium complex. Designed as a security measure, the hygenic technology allows users to simply wave their palms over the device, which then reads palm veins to verify that the individual belongs in the building. Sound ridiculous? Well, palm veins are apparently very difficult to forge, and false acceptance and rejection rates for the technology are less than .02%. We’re not even kidding.
