I kind of hate to admit it, but I've never liked the adidas shell toe. I think it's too pronounced and looks like a set of speed bumps in the Superstar's reasonably sleek silhouette. This Superstar 1 Lux, however, smoothes out the design by rendering the shell toe in stitching rather than a raised molding. The textured leather doesn't hurt, and this brown/wine colorway, with a creamy midsole and toe, give the shoe an unexpected sophistication. I'm not saying this would have made much sense for Run DMC, but it works way better for me. By: cory o'malley |

but I can't say that I really like the overall design. personally i'm a fan of the adidas comptown series. i think they do better softening the whole shell toe thing. i know what you mean about the whole speed bump thing haha. the one thing that really redeems this shoe for me are the colors. |

Hmm. I actually don't like the "brown". It's much too reddish for me. I remember seeing some other colorways on another site (Perhaps Highsnobiety) that looked better than this. If they just softened the brown, I think it would look great. The stripes and sole are a nice color though. |
