Technology - October 27 2006mimoco Chewbacca mimobot7
The latest in mimoco's Star Wars mimobot collection, the Chewbacca flash drive is now available for preorder (ships in January). Like the Darth Vader drive, the original in the series and 1st of four, this one is rendered a little comically, although created in full collaboration with Lucasfilm. Available in a limited edition of 2500 in 1/2/4GB sizes, the USB 2.0 drive looks great among mimoco's growing collection of artist-designed mimobots. It's nice to see the injection of a little personality into functional items. However, I am now allergic to removable (and hence, losable) caps. One simple mistake in losing the cap, and i would feel exposed as Chewy's brain and my precious data were continiously exposed to the harsh elements. And I would hope Chewy has a metal ring near his tail so i can attach him to a key chain. |

Doesn't look like Chewbacca, but this might be a solution if you're concerned about losing the cap: PQI Retractable USB Flash Drive |

thanks for the link...pretty nifty invention. reminds me of the awesome SanDisk Titanium Cruzer (i would post a hyperlink but i can't figure out how in here). also, i think it is the japanese cartoon version of chewbacca, so some artistic license may apply. |
