Style - November 22 2006Exactly the Cashmere Plaid Scarf2 Part of the appeal of a brand like Banana Republic [wiki brand profile] is the comfy dependability of seeing pieces that you can count on being around year-in and year-out. I can't tell you if this Cashmere Plaid Scarf was actually in Banana Republic's winter collection last year, but it looks familiar enough that it could have been. When the product works--like this versatile pattern in 100% cashmere--we call it a classic. It's pretty much as simple as that. And who knows if it will actually be a round next year, or it simply looks timeless. By: cory o'malley |

Don't get me wrong I love labels but I saw 100% cashmere scarfs at Target for $21.99 and they were bad ass!!! Tons of modern patterns and traditional styles as well. Shop Around. |

I sort of agree. Having just purchased a women's scarf from Target as a gift this week, I'll weigh in. The piece was a little thin, and not as luxuriously soft as I expect from cashmere, but I agree with gijoemanning: the sub-$25 price range is remarkable for decent cashmere.
I have to say, though, that the women's scarf was quite a bit more appealing than what I've seen in the men's collections at target. Part of the draw of Banana Republic (or J. Crew) is that the brand's designs can make something that you grandfather may have worn look contemporary and appealing to you today--that's a classic. But take this comparable plaid, which, to my eyes, doesn't have all that much life, and kind of just looks like something my grandfather has been wearing for a few decades. Personally, I think you are better off with a bland solid if you go the Target route. |
