Technology - November 30 2006HP IQ770 Crossfire: iMac Killer?3
Engadget is throwing around terms like "iMac Killer" in reference to the forthcoming IQ770 Crossfire from HP, which sets this rig up to be an unavoidable letdown. Hyperbole aside, this touchsceen desktop PC is looking pretty amazing, featuring a 320GB hard drive, 2GB SDRAM, WiFi, Bluetooth, an integrated 1.3 MP camera, 5.1 digital audio out, integrated FM and HDTV tuners, wireless keyboard and mouse, a widget-like dashboard interface, and that 19" touchscreen. Got all that? This monster will also reportedly feature six USB 2.0 ports, in addition to a slew of other ports for any kind of peripheral you can imagine. It will also feature HD's new image printing and editing interface Photosmart Touch, which essentially makes this the all-in-one media hub the average American is demanding these days. Look for it at the end of January, launched by Bill Gates (again, according to Engadget ) for a little under $2000. By: cory o'malley |

Is the imac even worth killing? Mac sales are somewhere around 5% of all computer sales, doesn't quite seem like a computer worth going after. Does look pretty cool though. |

Personally, I've never been a fan of terms like "iPod killer," etc, although, as a blogger, I recognize their worth in an RSS feed. I use an iMac at home and a PC at work, and I prefer OS X over Windows and Macs over PCs in general. Nonetheless, I think the Crossfire looks pretty impressive whether or not it's putting any other all-in-one systems out of business. |
