Technology - May 22 2007Internet: Extreme Makeover0
The National Science Foundation is sprucing up the internet, assigning the redesign oversight to BBN Technologies, which was a key player in the birth of the original internet. The plan is called Global Environment for Network Innovations (GENI). GENI is intended as a flatbed for research that will allow for experimentation while not affecting or damaging the existing internet. This is no tweak, it's a major overhaul. Many researchers believe a "clean-slate" approach is needed to truly address security, mobility, and other challenges. |via Chron | By: anh ta |
