Substance - October 20 2008Hollow Spy Coins5
It's not often that you'll fool me into paying $20 for a nickel (maybe even never), even when I'm drunk, but these hollow spy coins are worth it just for their novelty. Used during the Cold War by agents on both sides, hollow coins were used to carry messages, suicide doses, and microfilm. They can be handled like normal coins and are virtually undetectable at a glance. I have no idea what I would use one for but if it makes me feel a little more "dangerous" when walking into a place of ill-repute, then I think I'm ready to slap down some green. A hollow nickel is better than a wooden nickel. |via BoingBoing| By: anh ta
