Brand Overview
Loll Designs is a Duluth, MN-based designer and manufacturer of outdoor furniture made from 100% recycled plastic. The name refers to "furniture for the modern lollygager."
Brand History
Loll Designs was founded by Greg Benson in 2005 as an offshoot of his company TrueRide, Inc., which designs and constructs skateboarding ramps and parks, nation-wide. In an effort to make use of the large amounts of waste material created by TrueRide production, Benson began to look into recycling the material into product design. In 2002, Benson had formed Epicurean Cutting Surfaces?, a range of cutting boards made from woodfiber-composite laminate used in the construction of skateboard ramps. Three years later, he launched Loll Designs, which uses high-density polyethylene (HDPE) scrap material for lawn furniture.
Loll furniture is made with computer assisted design, and all furniture is manufactured at the company's facility in Minnesota. In addition to HDPE scrap, the furniture is held together with stainless steel hardware.
In early 2006, Sustainable Duluth, a group that promotes environmental and social awareness along with economic prosperity, recognized TrueRide for success in implementing business sustainability concepts in the pollution cleanup and the effort to eliminate waste.
